GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Bailey Elementary is very proud to be a Great Expectations Model School!

The Great Expectations® (GE) teaching/training model is guided by six basic principles (Tenets). These Tenets provide guidelines for program training and implementation and serve as standards for evaluating GE schools/districts.

The GE Tenets are further defined by seventeen Classroom Practices that occur in GE classrooms, schools, and districts. Through teachers' use of the GE Classroom Practices, students become self-directed learners, productive citizens, effective communicators, critical thinkers, and cooperative contributors in the classroom as well as in society.

The image depicts a circular seal or logo for a "Model School" with the text "Great Expectations" and the years 2024-2025 prominently displayed. The background features a stylized tree silhouette against a yellow and green color scheme.

Educators helping students achieve excellence guide them in adhering to the following expectations:

  • We will value one another as unique and special individuals.

  • We will not laugh at or make fun of a person's mistakes nor use sarcasm or putdowns.

  • We will use good manners, saying "please," "thank you," and "excuse me" and allow others to go first.

  • We will cheer each other to success.

  • We will help one another whenever possible.

  • We will recognize every effort and applaud it.

  • We will encourage each other to do our best.

  • We will practice virtuous living, using the Life Principles.

More information regarding this program can be found on the Great Expectations website.
